Assemble a drum over a neoprene strip on the tube. Place a tee on each end.

You must now determine the height of the bass drum. Hold the tube in the position you desire the drum, and measure and cut the length required length of tube, adding in the necessary length for the inset of the connectors. This length is the same for all connectors, and is found by measuring the distance of the edge of the connector to the raised surface on the inside diameter that the tube hits when inserted. This inset value can easily be added to the distance measured between the two connector edges, which is a much easier measurement. For example, if the inset is 1” (2.5 cm) and the connectors are 12” (30 cm) apart, cut a 14” (310 cm) piece.

Cut two tubes to the required length, and install the bass drum tube. You may wish to remove the actual drum from the tube during the rest of the rack construction in this step and in future rack assembly steps.

You are now ready to add the snare and floor tom. The easiest way to determine their positions is to mount the drums to their tubes. Cut a horizontal tube for both drums to your desired length, and install the drum over the neoprene strip on the tubes. Add a tee to the end of the tubes.

The next step is achieved the same way, expect with the high hat. In order to install the high-hat, drill a 3/16” (5 mm) hole through an end cap, and screw a 2.5” x ¼-20 (M6 x 40) screw through the hole. Because the hole is smaller than the screw, the screw threads will cut mating threads into the plastic.
